About Little Arches
Little Arches is an intimate, exceptionally pretty, adults-only hideaway – and a great base from which to get a flavour of the real Barbados. Salmon pink in colour, with terracotta floors and swirls of mosaic tiles set into pillars and arches, the chic, 10-bedroom hotel looks like it’s been transported from the shores of the Mediterranean.
Guests chill out on the first-floor terrace around the triangular-shaped swimming pool and on sofas and hammocks. One floor up on the roof terrace is Cafe Luna, an acclaimed Barbados restaurant, serving Caribbean/Asian/Mediterranean dishes, sushi two evenings a week, and lovely made-to-order breakfasts. In the evening it is a charming romantic place to dine.
Bedrooms are individually designed and very attractive, with handmade ceramic bowls as sinks in bathrooms, and local artwork. Suites have either their own plunge pool or an outdoor whirlpool tub on a wooden deck. Owner Jacinta Cothran and her team are very friendly and welcoming and they really do treat their clients as guests not customers.
Little Arches’ location is very different from all the other hotels on the island. It is on the quiet, residential outskirts of the fishing village of Oistins, across a cul-de-sac lane from the sea. One hundred and fifty yards down the lane lies the superb Enterprise Beach (also known as Miami Beach). Very popular with locals and visitors alike, it offers a long stretch of beautiful white sand, great surfing, and safe bathing in a sheltered cove. Little Arches will arrange sun loungers to be brought to the beach.
From the hotel it’s also a short walk to the centre of Oistins and the many stalls there that cook excellent, cheap fish suppers. We think Oistins fish fry party every Friday evening is the best night out on Barbados.
